“Let’s play a game!” You jumped on the couch next to Steve and smiled at him. Nearby Bruce, who was reading a science magazine, and Clint, who was reading a graphic novel, looked up curiously. Natasha as well as Thor had gone out for the night and you were terribly bored.

Clint raised an eyebrow. “What kind of game?”

“Hmmm...an excellent question, Agent Barton!” You bounded over to where the board games were stored and rummaged through them. Your mumble was muffled as you sorted through them. “What game...what game…”

“I vote strip poker.” Tony walked in and smirked as he stared at your butt in your sweats while you searched for a game. They were fairly loose, but hung nicely on your hips and Tony was rather enjoying the view. Nearby, Steve glared at the billionaire as he stared at you. Steve had had a crush on you for a while, but every time he came close to saying something or it seemed like you were drifting the conversation that way, he’d nervously change the subject. After a while of procrastination, he realized he didn't have a crush on you anymore. He loved you instead. Just because he was shy didn't mean he wanted Stark to oogle you, even if you did have a cute butt. Steve blushed as he realized what he was thinking.

“Not on your life, Tony. Oh!” You held up a slender, square box. “How about Twister?”

Bruce shook his head. “No thanks, (Name).” You looked at him glumly. Bruce always sat things out because he was too nervous of his temper. He sighed. “But I'll be the spinner if you want.”

You smiled. “Yay! Clint?”

The agent shrugged. “I’m not really good at that game. Apparently, I only have balance when in a life or death situation” He closed his book, grinning at you. “Sorry, party animal.”

“I am not!” Your laugh sounded so nice to Steve’s ears. Then before he knew it, you were beside him, looking right at him. “Steve? Are you gonna play at least?”

He hesitated. Playing a game like Twister wasn't really his thing. It was a too close for comfort kind of game for him. Besides, he’d be blushing scarlet the whole time he played against you, being that close. “I’d rather sit and watch.”

Your face suddenly took on a sad look as you moved over to take his hand, giving him puppy dog eyes. “Please, Steve? I can't play by myself.”

It took all his focus not to lose the ability to speak as you held his hand. “It’s...it’s okay. Thanks, though.”

With a sigh, you walked over to put back the game, but suddenly an arm reached out and you were pulled against Tony’s side. He smirked down at you. “Mind if I play, sweetheart? I can be pretty flexible when necessary.” He wiggled his eyebrows at you, making your eyes roll. Still, despite the eyeroll, Steve couldn't help but notice your shy smile.

“Sure. You can play.” You darted from his grasp and laid out the mat. “Just try to be normal?”

He chuckled. “Sure thing. Being this close to a woman is normal for me after all.”

As he watched the whole exchange, Steve was boiling inside. Tony had no shame. None! Steve’s hands clenched in irritation. If only you and Tony were playing, he was certain Tony would do whatever he could to lean as close as possible to you. What if he tried to lean in and kiss you? “Know what, (Name)? I'll play after all.” Steve stood and kicked off his shoes.

A smile lit up your face. “I'm glad! This will be fun!” Inside you were so glad Steve had said yes. He was so shy and always avoiding you when you considered talking about your feelings. Now he’d be close to you and didn't have a choice. It’d be so nice having him so close, especially since you did love him and all.

“Oh, definitely…” Tony grinned down at you.

With another eyeroll in the billionaire’s direction, you passed the spinner to Bruce. Your eyes always seemed to be rolling around Tony.

The game started off easy with basically the three of you shuffling your feet. A few times, hands got called, but it was pretty calm with everyone having their own space on the mat.

Then Bruce spun again and things started to get interesting. The spinner buzzed lightly along the cardboard before Bruce called out the answer. “Left hand, yellow!”

The three of you moved so that Steve was right behind you, face less than a foot away from your hair. It smelled like fruit and Steve blinked slowly, trying to regain his focus. Part of him wanted to just lean forward and nuzzle your hair, breathing in the sweet scent. The other part wanted to run away.

At the same time, Tony and you had had to move so that you two were right in front of each other. Tony winked at you. “Glad I decided to play, beautiful.” He was awfully close and you were getting nervous Tony may try something. You really wished roles were reversed so Steve was the one right in front of you. To have a excuse to be able to stare into his dreamy, blue eyes...

A blush dusted your cheeks as you snapped out of your daydream. “Bruce, spin! Quick!”

Clint chuckled as he flicked the spinner and Bruce called it out. “Right hand, green!”

Quickly, you shifted away from Tony and slid your hand to the green. Tony took the one beside him, but based on everyone’s position, the closest green to Steve was on the other side of you. He was tempted to just quit, but caught Tony grinning at you and swallowed nervously. Before he could back out, Steve moved to put his hand on the green. Now Tony was watching the two of you curiously. He was in a slightly tangled crouch, you were in a crab walk position, and Steve was positioned over you. Immediately, Steve began to blush at the closeness. “S...sorry about this…”

You giggled as Bruce spun again and leaned in to whisper in Steve’s ear. “It’s so cute when you blush…” Before Steve realized it, you had leaned over to brush a kiss against his cheek. You….you thought he was cute? And you had kissed his cheek? Steve was pretty sure he would have fainted if he wasn't hovering over you. You smiled up at him, speaking in a soft voice. “I’m glad you decided to play…”

Before the super soldier could answer or process what had just happened, Clint called out the next direction. “Right foot, red!” You and Steve slid your feet to the red, but then heard a low thud and glanced over to where Tony sat.

“Guess I'm out.” He shrugged and walked over to sit beside Clint and Bruce. Softly, the billionaire whispered to the other two men.

Bruce frowned and spoke in a low voice. “You should have been able to reach that one.”

Tony smirked. “It’s more fun watching the lovebirds. Now, let’s make this interesting.” Clint flicked the spinner, but when it stopped, Tony called out something complete different. Bruce and Clint glanced at him, but he simply held a finger to his lips and winked.

It didn't take Bruce and Clint long to figure out what Tony was doing. He would call out whatever color and limb meant you and Steve would be even closer, getting more and more entangled. Steve’s face was red from the closeness and you kept looking everywhere, except for into his blue eyes, afraid you’d stare and zone out. Bruce smiled at how shy the two of you were, while Clint was fighting a fit of giggles. Tony just grinned and kept calling out the combinations until you were hovering over Steve. Both you and Steve were too distracted by how close you were to realize the billionaire’s antics. Tony just grinned as you hovered over Steve, your (h/c) locks falling to tickle his face. The playboy groaned. “Will somebody win already?” In truth, the genius playboy had been calling out combinations to keep you two in each other’s personal space, but not where you'd fall and lose. He was curious which of you shy lovebirds would back down first...or get over your shyness first. It was very entertaining to watch.

You laughed. “I could win right now, butttt…” Your voice was softer as you finally made eye contact with Steve. “...I’m having too much fun…” The two of you stared for a moment before you glanced at Tony as he cleared his throat. You smirked. “So give me an incentive to win and end the game instead of continuing.”

He smirked right back. “If you can win right now, I'll give you an all expenses paid night on the town. Paint the town red and gold!”

“The saying is paint the town red, Tony.” Bruce raised an eyebrow questioningly at him.

He chuckled. “Yeah, but red and gold is soooo much better.”

You rolled your eyes and smiled down at Steve. “Sorry, soldier, but a fun night at Tony’s expense? I want it. So, I'm gonna have to play dirty.”

“What do you mean, (Name)? You're going to cheat?” Steve’s eyes widened in surprise. That was so unlike you!

“Not at all.” You leaned in and whispered in his ear. “But I want to win, so I can take you with me. Ya know, on a date?”

“Da...date?” Steve was shocked. You were asking him out?

“Yes.” You leaned back to smile at him, speaking soft enough so only he could hear. “I might as well try and ask you out on a proper date. Usually the guy asks first, but you kind of move slower than molasses and I'm kind of tired of waiting. I mean, I've been in love with you for the longest time, after all.”

“What?!” Steve couldn't believe what he had just heard. You had just said you loved him! His arms and legs suddenly felt like jell-o, making him crumple to the ground, but you were too close and as he fell, he knocked your limbs out from under you and you fell on him as well.

Tony roared with laughter as Bruce quietly chuckled and Clint fell over in hysterics. You and Steve were a pile of tangled limbs and it was a pretty funny sight. Tony called it between laughs. “(Name), won! That’s that!”

“Sorry! I fell on you.” Steve propped himself up on his elbows as you tried to squirm off him, but suddenly his gentle hand was on cupping your cheek. You looked up to see a blushing Steve grinning at you from ear to ear.

“I’d love to go out with you...in fact...I love you too.” He looked down shyly before meeting your gaze again and leaning in to kiss you. His lips were so soft and as you rested a hand on his chest for balance, you could feel his heart race beneath your touch.

The kiss was perfect until Tony regained his breath and called over to you and Steve. “Should be a fun date because you just learned how flexible the other is!”

Steve yelled at him as you picked up a discarded shoe and threw it at Tony’s head. “Stark!!!”

Tony ducked, but you didn't even bother to see because you had turned back to Steve to kiss him again. Not even Tony’s jokes could dampen this moment. You broke apart from Steve to grin. “Twister is my new favorite game.”

He chuckled and your stomach fluttered at how he couldn't seem to take his eyes off you. “Mine too.”
Just a little idea I thought of the other day. Since Steve is so shy and all. Please comment. Hope ya like it. :)
